Kerry McGuire

I joined Renaissance nine years ago after working in various reading intervention roles in schools and as an ESL teacher in South Asia. My real journey into the world of educational technology began when I was working as a librarian in an East London secondary school, where I used Accelerated Reader and Star Reading daily to support students’ literacy and engagement. This firsthand experience of our products sparked my interest in assessment, literacy development and the impact of well‑chosen books on young people — interests that now underpin my editorial work.

I feel especially lucky when I get to write quizzes on rom-com, romantasy, horror, and thriller titles. These are all genres I love to read as an adult, too! Mostly I’m passionate about increasing diversity in representation; nothing is more important than ensuring schools can access stories in which young people can see themselves reflected back.
